This was my first project.  Before you can start anything major you need a base to work on.  Preferably a base that conducts electricity, and is very strong for when you're working with heavy materials, banging things with hammers, forming metal around the corners, etc.  So, luckily I have a friend (whom I'm very grateful to) who's family owns an ironworks and fabricating company, and was able to get a sheet of 1/2" thick 3x4' steel plate, and some nice 1/4" angle iron for the legs.  This table is now the cornerstone of my fabricating operations.

The project was done on my back patio in the summer under the blazing 90+ degree heat, but it was an easy one.  At the time I only had a 50A stick welder so in order to weld on the thick metals of the table I had to wait until I got my much stronger MIG welder.

Points of contact where the welds would be were grinded down to a shiny surface to maximize the strengths of the welds.

Not many tools need for this project.  Basically an angle grinder and some measuring tape :)

More of the tools laid out as I take a break.

The legs are now mounted and braced, and the bottom of the table is painted to prevent rust (of course, the top was NOT painted).

The table upright and completed.  I later added on a sheet of plywood underneath for storage.  Vice has been bolted on.

The vice.
